MailRoom Chester’s 25th Year

Where we started

MailRoom Chester was originally known as “Lumisi Virtual”, a mailbox and delivery service based in Chester on Northgate street. First Founded in 1998, it was a small scale business ran by only two people at the time.

And the answer to your question is Yes – 1998 is already 25 years ago! Speaking of 1998, we thought we should revisit some other events that also happened that year.

1998 Summarised

1998: This was the year of great innovation and a real promise for the future, as follows is a list of a few monumental events:

– This was the year that European countries agreed on a single currency, the “Euro”. And so marks the founding of the European central bank in Frankfurt.

– Microsoft became the biggest company in the world, with a net worth that year valuing at $261 billion.

– Google, the American search engine company, was also founded this year by Sergey Brin and Larry Page.

– The Good Friday Peace Agreement was passed this year, as a means of preventing continued conflict between Britain and the IRA.

– BMW acquired Rolls Royce for a small fee of $570 million.

– France win the Football World Cup in their home country.

– Now, a few for the cinema buffs, a long list of great movies were released this year. Here are just a few: The Big Lebowski, Saving Private Ryan, Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, The Truman Show, Titanic, Harry Potter and the chamber of secrets, The Thin Red Line, Blade and Patch Adams – were all released this year. A further note; The Titanic had 11 Oscar nods at the 70th Academy Awards.

MailRoom Chester today

From the founding of the mailbox service, the location of the business has changed, but we have always remained within the Chester walls. The businesses first move was from Northgate street to Hunter street – where in June 2010, the company amalgamated with other local businesses to form Lumisi Ltd. Then the company moved to White Friars street and now finally (where we are now), Cassidy House on Station Road.

As the MailRoom Chester franchise is part of Lumisi Ltd, many team members have been recruited along the way – creating new ventures for the company, such as: brand development, web design, print, events management, and of course, our mail box services.

Now 25 years later, this brings us to MailRoom Chester. It came about from a rebrand in late 2021 – due to our newly formed team and location. With links to all over the country via the Chester Train station and our convenient city centre location. We decided a rebrand and fresh image would convey our growth as a franchise and our vision for continued growth in the future.
